Frequently Asked Questions

What are concrete colour oxides?

Our oxides are fine powders used to colour cement-based products and mix to eliminate the need for painting and other coatings while still giving you a full depth of colour.

Why use oxides instead of painting? What are the benefits?

Because the oxide pigments are mixed in with the cement, they are weather-resistant and UV-resistant and won’t peel off over time like a paint sealer. Iron oxide pigment is environmentally friendly and more cost-effective than paint.

How much oxide will I need for my project?

The amount of oxide you will require for your project will depend on the surface look you’re trying to achieve and the amount of cement, not sand or aggregate, in your mix. You can achieve different shades by adding more or less oxide to your mix, so you may need to test the oxide first if you are trying to achieve a particular colour. Always follow the directions on the pack to know how much oxide to add to your cement mix.

How can I avoid oxide colour bursts in my cement mix?

To avoid colour bursts, you can try soaking the oxide in water overnight before adding it to your cement mix. Also, make sure that it is mixed in well before use.
